1968 Camaro SS/RS 396 325hp
l Unrestored: one old repaint, original interior. l Original Engine, trans, rear end. l Never detailed engine. |
|
On
April 30, 1968, Robert Weidman took delivery of this Camaro he ordered from Ourisman
Chevrolet in a Washington, DC suburb. He traded in both a ‘64 Ford and a ‘64
Corvette plus $1200. The
Camaro has the Super Sport and Rally Sport packages, L35 325 hp 396, TH400
automatic, deluxe interior, air conditioning, PS, PB, tach & gauges - a
luxury Camaro! Robert
remembers the car well and stated it still had the original paint when he
sold it in 1986. |

Looks like
tail panel was dented at one time. Note 3 brazed spots above taillight. |
|
Engine
compartment is almost untouched. Missing smog, wrong Qjet, replacement water
pump. |
|
Cowl never
painted. Note “T” stamp and unpainted black body plug at extreme upper
right.. |
|
Build 04C,
Trim 719, Paint D2 |
|
“137”
crayon numbers (upside down) still visible on inside of lower valance. |
|
TO823MY -
very early engine for April car but matches POP and is absolutely right!
Engine never out. |
|
Underside
of trunk, jambs have not been painted. Lid was slammed on something judging
by dent at upper left |
|
Paint is
Earl Scheib quality, but body is straight and only rust, ever, is slight
bubbling behind rear wheels. Sheetmetal is all orig. Pans and trunk look
excellent. |

|
Orig paint
with a little overspray inside doors. Solid and nice - nothing covered up. |

|
Trunk
dropoffs look excellent. Just a little problem at bottom of outer wheelhouse. |
