#1 Z16 In Print

 

Since it’s restoration in 1989, the #1 Z16 has been featured in many publications. Some featured it because it was a Z16, but others “got it” and touted the cars status as THE FIRST Z16!

 

It is important to note that all of these articles show the #1 Z16 without a vinyl top. Floyd Garrett elected not to have it re-installed upon restoration in 1989. The trim tag is coded R-6 (R=red lower, 6=black vinyl top) and all old photos of the car prior to restoration show it did, indeed have a black vinyl top. Rightfully, Terry Gunter had the vinyl top installed on the car upon his purchase in 2000.

 

Also incorrect in these articles’ photos are 1967 and later wheel covers. While they appear similar to the correct version, they have subsequently been replaced by a proper set.
