New quarters and trunk floor installed

Body comes off the frame

Beautiful original gloss blackout             paint over red cowl (above).

“C08” in grey paint marker over heater box. Note poor black coverage here. Coverage (or lack thereof) of black will be duplicated during restoration (left).

Absolutely stunning original underbody shown after pressure washing. No rust out and very little surface rust! 108,000 mile Iowa cars don’t normally look like this!

Note the factory overspray on the semi gloss black floor pan. Evidence here proves this factory process: Entire body was EDP - appearing (black)primed. Outer surfaces were sprayed with grey primer (notice the light grey under rockers), then red. The light coverage of the red over the grey primer in places gives an almost pink hue.

Body plugs were galvanized and were installed after black dip (?) prime but before paint. They were installed and then sealed on top -  no sealer “squeezed out”.

“IX” L37 396 during assembly and completed.

“A 9 5” casting date is on right side of block, upside down, near center. Date translates to January 9, 1965. Most Z16 blocks were cast in January, 1965.

Heads for the Z16 L37 are part #3856208.

This one is dated B 19 5 (February 19, 1965)
